Melissa Ortiz- Becher, Psy.D., LMHC is a bilingual (English-Spanish) Licensed Psychologist with a specialization in neuropsychology. She brings extensive experience working with children, adults, and elderly patients across a wide range of settings.
Dr. Ortiz – Becher earned her bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico and completed her maters and doctoral degree (with Distinction) in Clinical Psychology at Carlos Albizu University in Miami, Florida. She has conducted comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and provided treatment for individuals with various neurological and psychological conditions, including Traumatic Brain Injuries(TBI), dementias, cerebrovascular accidents(strokes), memory and attention impairments, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, depression, and anxiety.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Ortiz – Becher has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, offering individual psychotherapy as well as comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations.
Furthermore, Dr. Ortiz-Becher is certified in mindfulness-based interventions for children and teens, with a focus on ADHD and emotional regulation. She holds an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) credential and has extensive experience supporting children and adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Her holistic therapeutic approach include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), neurofeedback, executive function coaching, and parenting guidance to support individuals with ADHD, depression, and anxiety in both office and hospital settings.She is also highly experienced in the use of computerized cognitive retraining programs designed to improve and restore cognitive functions in individuals who have suffered brain injuries due to TBI, stroke, or other neurological conditions. These interventions help rehabilitate key cognitive abilities such as attention, memory, and visuospatial processing.
