Depression is a mood disorder that affects how you feel, think, and function. It goes beyond temporary sadness and may interfere with daily life, work, sleep, appetite, and relationships.
Depression is fairly common and treatable.
According to the NIMH: In the past year “An estimated 21.0 million adults in the United States had at least one major depressive episode. This number represented 8.3% of all U.S. adults.” (World Health Organization [WHO], 2025)
